Bad Day Blues

By Stone Bryson

Joy is nowhere in sight,

as I’m late outta bed,

all night fussin’ with my woman,

wish we was lovin’ instead.

Late for work and late in life,

with a pain in my heart,

I step outside in the blinding snow

and the damned car wouldn’t start.

Finally got my car rollin’,

now I’m late on the road,

picked up a friend that I work with,

stopped to get me a Coke.

Start feelin’ a little better,

as the agony starts to pass,

slipped on the ice and lost my Coke

and I fell… flat on my ass.

Now I’m angry as hell,

as I walk though the door,

I went to look at my Timex,

god, I left it at home.

So my nerves are all scattered,

ah, I try to give them a rest,

I reach in my pocket and realize

that I forgot my cigarettes.
