Because We Care

By Stone Bryson

We need to return to nature’s ways… the planet is in despair,

rid ourselves of technologies that are fouling up the air.

The evil that we perpetrate upon our Earthly pride,

fills me with a self-disgust… and a guilt I cannot hide.

My ancestors worked themselves like dogs to pass down a better life,

how dare I honor in their struggle or look at them with pride.

I understand their twisted motives; the burden is mine to bear,

so I propose we rectify...

all because we care.

So everyone give up your cars and all freedoms that come along,

give up your modern conveniences because nature is for the strong.

Release you 'puter, phone, and telie… electricity and central air,

your indoor plumbing must go as well… if you truly care.

Ignore the medical advances… we'll heal with herbs and chants,

and solve our population problems - die young in true romance.

We'll live our lives like those before us… work sixteen hours a day,

we'll slave and toil for mere survival...

for that is nature's way.
