Angel

By Suzanne B. Jacobson

I'm caught, my friend

Between a longing for love

And a bitter end

If it weren't for the knowledge

My heart could break

It's unsure how much more

Of this I could take

No new dreams have taken

My soul to flight

No daemons nor lovers

Control my night

I'm brought to my knees

With the pain of this

The dark-hearted mem'ry

Of bed-time bliss

O Angel of Darkness

Come, hear my call

I must be your daughter

Now, after all

Spread your great wings

And take flight with me

Great harbinger of

My eternity

Spread your great wings

And catch my fall

I must be your daughter

Now after all...
