My Love For You
By Laurel Cross
Warm water cascades
over crimson fingers
the foaming lather turning a gentle pink hue.
I dare not let my fevered thoughts linger
on what was done, borne of my love for you.
Naked in front of the fire, bathed in the scarlet glow
garments turn to ashes. I do what I must do.
Ashes spread in the garden where deceitful flowers will grow.
Bittersweet reminder of the love I bear for you.
Does hell await me? Surely the lord will understand.
She was a threat to our love so pure and true,
her destiny was to die by my hand.
No, hell won’t claim me, it was all for the love of you.
