Siren

By Suzanne B. Jacobson

The hole in my heart is the Unicorn痴 touch

Proof of my innocence lost

I gave it so cheaply with so little thought

Without ever knowing the cost

I dreamed of a lover who called me by name

I opened my heart and my thighs

Later I learned that lovers come easy

Like honey that drips from their lies

Now I find pleasure in finding the lonely

The dreamers who live in the night

They dream of me skyclad, dream of me dancing

They come to me seeking delight

They reach out to touch me and I let them in

They taste me and won稚 let me go

Once in a lifetime they die in my arms

Better love than that no one can know.

***

Listen, my love, I sing to you softly

Come to me, give me your soul

Then go off, my lover, and marry another

Remember when you were once whole

Later, you値l see how I enter your dreams

You wife leaves you worn-out and dry

You値l wonder a moment how in sleep you池e a man

You値l think of me, then and you値l cry

For only my song and the taste of my love

Will bring you right down to your knees

Only the feel of my tongue and my touch

Will answer your pitiful pleas

You値l think of me then, skyclad and dancing

You値l feel me in your beating heart

You値l see me in moonlight, naked before you

And wish we were never apart.

***

I sing to you, love; I sing to you, hate

I sing to the boys and the men

Now I can see that they left me in tears

While the Unicorn dies in the glen?.
